A natural go-getter, Lila began her journey in massage therapy in her 50s. Though she had fears about starting education at a more mature age, Lila decided to give MaKami’s massage therapy program a try.
“I was working as a sales manager in a furniture store before I came to MaKami,” says Lila. “The income was good and it was enjoyable, but unfortunately it just wasn’t the career I wanted to do for the rest of my life.” With no fulfillment in her career, Lila felt like something was missing. “I felt a deficiency in my life, I needed time to explore myself and figure out what I wanted.”
After deciding to pivot and do something new, Lila enrolled in the 3000-Hour Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy Program at MaKami College. The college quickly became her second home. Beloved by her classmates and the MaKami staff, Lila soon became “Mama Lila” and her positive and upbeat attitude was contagious. With hard work and determination, Lila was able to pass her classes with flying colours.
Shortly after graduating from the program, Lila, who was always an entrepreneur at heart, opened a clinic/treatment room in her home. It was a successful endeavour and her passion for her work and her kindness towards others kept bringing clients back in for more. Her endeavour paid off financially as well. In just a year and a half, Lila was able to pay off her student loans completely.
The success of her clinic/treatment room led Lila to think bigger. She is now the proud owner of Med Massage and Wellness Clinic, where she offers a variety of massage treatments and continues to grow her business. For Lila, no goal is too far beyond her reach!
In finding success with massage therapy, Lila was able to find her true passion, grow a wonderful business and find more freedom in her life. “Since graduating, I have been able to buy my dream car, travel the globe and free up my schedule,” she says. Lila is continuing to expand her knowledge in massage therapy and has recently come back from Thailand, where she took extra training and learned some new techniques.
Lila loves to travel and has been all around Asia, the United States, Australia and many more countries. She plans to do a lot more traveling in the future.
Her future career plans involve opening up a clinic specifically aimed at helping individuals who are not able to afford treatments. Lila’s plans also involve creating more awareness around the benefits of massage therapy so that the medical community can acknowledge how beneficial it can be. She hopes to see a world where instead of prescribing medication to numb pain, more people will get referred and be healed through massage therapy.
Thank you, Lila, for being such an incredible success story and an inspiration!
