Early Learning and Child Care Certificate Program
Gain the skills you need to work in a variety of child care environments with MaKami’s one-year, full-time Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) certificate program. Offered in a flexible format with online and in-person classes, workshops and practicums, students can study and work at the same time.
The Early Learning and Child Care certificate program provides a holistic, inclusive and interculturally responsive curriculum. Students will work independently and collaboratively to learn the many components of the child care industry, including educational strategies, child development, learning through play, Indigenous knowledge, health, safety and nutrition and holistic lesson planning.
The program also includes First Aid, WHMIS and Food Safety training, and students have the option of continuing on to receive their Early Learning and Child Care diploma.

Early Learning and Child Care Diploma Program
Take your skills to the next level with our industry-leading Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) diploma program.
The ELCC diploma program is a one-year, full-time program for those who have graduated from MaKami’s Early Learning and Child Care Certificate program or an equivalent from another approved institution in Alberta.
Designed for people passionate about providing and leading quality early learning and child care in a variety of settings, this program will equip you with the skills and knowledge to become a frontline leader in early childhood education.
With an emphasis on cultural awareness, supportive technology, program design and daycare management, MaKami’s ELCC diploma program will give you the critical skills to create, lead and manage a truly inclusive early learning environment.
