It’s that time of year again – the end of the year when everyone gets ready to celebrate the holidays with their loved ones. Unfortunately, for people facing financial hardship and the cost of groceries going up, this time of year can be particularly difficult for students who are unable to afford food for their families.
MaKami wants to help make sure no student who needs food goes without. This year MaKami’s goal is to Stuff the School Store with more than enough food for students in need.
Starting November 21, we encourage you to bring in non-perishable food items to donate to our Stuff the Store Food Hamper Drive.
Each class will compete for who can donate the most items, and the winning class will be treated to breakfast on MaKami College!
To donate, bring in your items to reception and tell them your cohort. At the beginning of each week, the results from all cohorts will be displayed on the monitors located outside your School Store. Donations will be accepted until December 14. The winning class will be announced December 19.
Please note: If you are a student in need, we encourage you to contact SAS or stop by the SAS office in your campus. Your name will be added to our distribution list. The food hampers will be distributed the week of December 19-23. Please note quantities could be limited, so we encourage you to contact SAS as soon as possible if you require a hamper.
We are looking for volunteers to help package the hampers on December 15 & 16, and to help distribute them to students in need the week of December 19-22. If you are able to donate a couple hour of time every little bit helps! Please contact SAS if you would like to volunteer your time to this heartwarming initiative.
