Robin Landals-Hill Featured on The Educator Experience Podcast

The Educator Experience Podcast host Salli Carter with special guest Robin Landals-Hill, MaKami College’s Early Childhood Education Faculty Head

MaKami College is pleased to share that Robin Landals-Hill, Faculty Head of the college’s Early Childhood Education programs, is the guest on a new episode of The Educator Experience Podcast with Salli Carter.

In “What’s the Pickle? Rethinking Service & Leadership in Education,” Landals-Hill joins host Salli Carter for an engaging discussion on how service, belonging and everyday acts of care can shape a learner’s experience. Inspired by Bob Farrell’s customer service training Give ’Em the Pickle, the episode encourages educators to look for meaningful opportunities to go the extra mile and make a positive difference for students.

The conversation explores what excellent service can look like in an educational setting. Rather than treating students as traditional customers, Landals-Hill reflects on the importance of asking what can make it easier for each learner to succeed. That may mean helping someone navigate an unfamiliar process, connecting them directly with the right support or recognizing that fairness is not always about treating every situation in exactly the same way.

Landals-Hill and Carter also discuss the value of collaboration across departments, responsive leadership and the shared responsibility educators have for student success. Central to the episode is the idea that every learner deserves to feel seen, supported and included – and that small, thoughtful actions can have a lasting impact.

These themes closely align with MaKami College’s commitment to practical, student-centred learning. Through its Early Childhood Education programs, MaKami prepares future educators to create inclusive, responsive early learning environments that make a difference for children, families and communities.

“I truly enjoyed my conversation with Salli and the opportunity to reflect on the role service and leadership play in education,” said Landals-Hill. “I’m grateful to The Educator Experience for creating a space where educators can share ideas, learn from one another and keep student success at the heart of the conversation.”
