CALGARY, AB – More Albertans will have the opportunity to pursue rewarding careers through new support from the Government of Alberta’s Targeted Enrolment Expansion initiative.

The funding will expand enrolment in four programs: Health Care Aide, Early Learning and Child Care Certificate, Early Learning and Child Care Diploma, and Educational Assistant. New student spaces will begin becoming available in September 2026.

“This investment will help us serve more Albertans by expanding access to training in high-need fields,” said Leanna Helm, Vice-President, Academics at MaKami College. “By preparing tomorrow’s workforce in health care, childcare and education, we are helping build stronger communities across Alberta.”

Alongside practical, career-focused instruction, students can access wrap-around supports designed to help them navigate their education and move toward employment.

By reducing barriers to post-secondary education, the expansion will help more Albertans prepare for high-demand, rewarding careers in health-care settings, schools, child-care centres and communities across the province.
