MaKami’s President & CEO Recognized in Women Making History Awards

Marija Pavkovic, President & CEO of MaKami College, was recognized as a finalist at the 2025 Women Making History in Alberta Awards on June 6, 2025 at Calgary’s Heritage Park Historical Village.

This prestigious event recognizes trailblazers who are breaking barriers, driving innovation and building stronger communities.

“It is such an honour to be recognized as one of the Women Making History in Alberta,” says Pavkovic-Tovissi, who was nominated in the Community Builder Award category, celebrating women making a lasting impact in community development, non-profits, and social services.

“It is incredible that Heritage Park is a place that is celebrating women in their achievements both past and present, and to be a part of that celebration and share the stage with so many other inspiring women is such a phenomenal experience.”

MaKami College is a post-secondary college with locations in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta. MaKami opened in 2001 and grew to become the largest massage therapy school in Alberta, teaching students to become highly trained massage therapists with our 3,000 Hour Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy Diploma program. Since that time, the school has grown to include programs for Early Childhood Education, Personal Training, Medical Office Assistant, Applied Politics and Public Affairs, Health Care Aide, Business Administrative Assistant, Master Instructor and Alberta Basic Security Training.
