Edmonton Pre-school Hiring PT Playschool Teacher

Capilano Playschool is a Learn Through Play early learning program, located in Hardisty School in SE Edmonton. They are a licensed half-day preschool, offering daily AM classes for children ages 3-5. We are looking for a nurturing, enthusiastic preschool teacher who will facilitate daily rhythms/routines, while honouring differentiation, and providing creative invitations to play.

This is a 809 hour contract, for early September 2025 to mid-June 2026, with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

• Engage in a Learn Through Play education approach; including these key aspects:

  • Active and Mindful
  • Meaningful and Relevant
  • Iterative and Exploratory
  • Social and Interactive
• Create a safe, joyful, meaningful, and engaging classroom that supports a holistic learning experience
• Facilitate daily rhythms (circle time, reading time, etc.)
• Facilitate monthly themes (with student input/interest, when possible)
• Foster positive relationships with each student
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Capilano Playschool board, administrative coordinator, parents, roster volunteers, and Hardisty School staff
• Introduce activities that promote fine motor skills, gross motor skills, cognitive, emotional and social development of the students
• Ensure a clean, organized and safe classroom
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and boards, including a providing a monthly newsletter
• Attending board meetings (monthly), Open Houses (2), and AGMs (Fall and Spring)

Skills and Qualifications

• Alberta Child Care Certification: Level 3 Early Childhood Educator
• Relevant experience in early childhood
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector (dated within 6 months of hiring date)
• Current CPR and First Aid
• Passion for early learning and a genuine love for working with young children

Compensation

• Pay: $26-$28 per hour
• $750 in lieu of benefits
• Paid PD days (included in contract hours), and $200 for PD resources
• Paid Prep and Planning Time (included in contract hours)
