Announcing the Brand New MaKami College Filipino Canadian Heritage Scholarship

It was an honour for MaKami College to be included in the Alberta Filipino Community Leaders Conference and Gala this weekend. 

We have been inspired by their leadership team for having such passion for their community. With that, MaKami Founder, Marija Pavkovic-Tovissi announced the creation of a $50,000 scholarship fund on behalf of MaKami College and the Pavkovic family to the Filipino community in honour of the newly announced Philippine Heritage Month.

Filipino individuals living in Alberta may apply for the scholarship during the month of June 2018.

Stipulations include:

  , • Each recipient chosen must be a Filipino living in the province of Alberta needing financial assistance. The scholarship will range between $1,000 to $5,000 per recipient which will go towards their education at MaKami College for the Health Care Aide program. The combined total of all allocated scholarships will be a maximum of $50,000. Students will be responsible for any other payment for their own program not covered by scholarship awarded amounts.

  , • The funds will be held in trust by MaKami College and will be released to the school on behalf of the recipients. The funds, awarded to well-deserving recipients will go towards tuition, books or supplies for the Health Care Aide program at MaKami College. The recipients have up to one year to enroll in the MaKami College Health Care Aide program or they will forfeit the scholarship and another winner will be chosen.

The scholarship is for people in their community that would benefit greatly from this financial assistance and the opportunity to educate themselves.

We believe that CANADA is the land of opportunity but the key is education. We were inspired by the leadership and their speeches and passion for their families and their communities.
