MaKami EDGE Youth Employment gives young Albertans real roles, real mentorship, and room to grow.

What is EDGE?

EDGE = Experience • Development • Growth • Employment

The MaKami Youth Edge program hires youth from the community into paid, entry-level roles and pairs every opportunity with coaching. You bring the drive; we help you build the skills and experience employers look for.

Who can apply?

Age: 16–25
Status: Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident
Residence: Living in Alberta and legally able to work in Canada
Availability: Able to meet the hours and schedule of the role
If you’re 16–17: parent/guardian consent is required

Employment Types:

16–18: Casual, part-time, or temporary roles
18–25: Casual, part-time, temporary, and full-time opportunities

Meeting eligibility does not guarantee employment.

How it works

Choose your path. Apply to any Open Posting on our careers page and/or complete the EDGE Talent Pool Form below with your résumé for consideration across posted and unposted roles.
Get matched. HR reviews the EDGE pool regularly and shares strong matches with hiring leaders across campuses.
Interview & onboarding. Selected candidates interview for fit. Successful hires receive orientation, safety/privacy training, and a mentor.
Grow with a plan. A 30-60-90-day learning plan helps you build skills and confidence.

Is this only for MaKami students?

No. EDGE hires youth from the community, whether or not you study at MaKami.

Will every applicant be contacted?

We value every application. Due to volume, only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

Are these paid roles?

Yes. Rates align with role, market, and Alberta standards.

How long will my application stay in the talent pool?

Up to 12 months, unless you ask us to remove it sooner.

I’m 16–17. Can I work evenings or weekends?

Yes, within Alberta’s young-worker rules and with appropriate supervision.

Can I apply to both open postings and the EDGE pool?
