MaKami Hiring – Human Resources Coordinator

MaKami College is a provincially licensed Private Vocational College offering a 3,000 Hour Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy Diploma Program, a Health Care Aide Certificate Program, a Business Administrative Assistant Diploma Program, a Master Instructor Diploma Program and Alberta Basic Security Training. Working in partnership with the leadership at all levels, employees, HR team, and the Director, HR (located in Calgary) to ensure an environment that supports innovation and continuous improvement, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of services in the following key areas: employee relations, compensation, onboarding, HR systems development, training & development, payroll administration, and policies/procedures. Specific duties will include:

 

Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities (Including but not limited to the following):

  • HR administration with an emphasis on consistency, efficiency, and continuous improvement (ie., payroll, policy work, performance management, etc.).
  • Assisting with the coordination, completion, and interpretation of key industry HR initiatives
  • Employee Relations include performance management, awareness and understanding of HR programs, policies, and practices.
  • Ensuring the support of accurate tracking of key employee information (i.e., hours worked, overtime, vacation, etc.).
  • Completing employee orientations and necessary paperwork for employee new hires & departures
  • Maintaining MaKami’s HR Systems with new hire information, employee changes, etc.

 

Education & Experience

  • A related degree or diploma (i.e., HR, Psychology, Commerce, etc.) and pursuing or interested in pursuing a CHRP designation.
  • 1 – 3 years related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability and professionalism in dealing with sensitive information, urgent matters, conflict resolution; able to discern the appropriateness of communications.
  • Proven effectiveness in dealing with employee-related matters and managing change.
  • Knowledge and understanding of related legislation and regulations at the federal, provincial, and local levels.
  • Exceptional organizational and computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office & Ceridian DayForcee
  • Must be well organized with strong attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, able to multi-task, and self-motivated.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees and internal business partners; and
