Rita joined the MaKami College campus in Calgary this month as our new Clinic Supervisor!
Rita has more than 20 years of experience in the massage therapy industry and has been a teacher at Mount Royal College in Calgary for more than 15 years.
“Along with teaching I also ran clinic at Mount Royal, I’ve always really enjoyed it,” says Rita, who is responsible for organizing clinic, ensuring students practice their techniques properly and that they get enough hours to graduate....

For Spencer, taking the the Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy program at MaKami College was a natural fit.
“I chose massage therapy because I was always in sports and the whole aspect of treating athletes brought my attention to massage therapy,” says Spencer. “I knew how important getting my 2,200 hours was. Plus I wanted to keep going right after first year to second year to stay fresh and on top of my game.”

Ai graduated from Makami College’s first year program in 2005. Upon graduation she was hired at Eveline Charles Salon and Spa downtown, where she has been working for the past seven years. Ai has even had the chance to massage Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas!
“I really enjoy working in a spa environment because the setting is very relaxing for clients and I feel relaxed working there. It is such a pleasure for me to see how my clients’ moods change after treatments.”

Second year student Shelley Sargent took a six year break before returning to MaKami College this semester to take her second year of training.
“I love learning and I love MaKami College,” says Sargent, who decided to come back and upgrade her training after finding out the college offered a second year program. “It sounded like a lot of fun and it has been. I’ve learned a lot of really valuable information that will help me with my career.”
