Upon completion of your second year of our Registered Massage Therapist Program, you will get an advanced certification that allows you to work as a registered massage therapist (RMT) and provide health insurance claim receipts.
This qualification is important when looking to find a job as a massage therapist or to open your own massage therapy practice.
The complete Advanced Registered Massage Therapy diploma runs for two-years. Completion of the program can open the door to a wider variety of massage therapy career options upon graduation.

Yes. MaKami College is currently the only Licensed Massage Therapy College in Alberta to provide a two-year, 3,000-hour diploma program in Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy. This level of accreditation is recognized around the world and allows you to practice anywhere you choose to.
Completion of the MaKami College Massage Therapy Program will make you a certified professional. This certification is recognized Alberta-wide and internationally.
You will be taught by professional and highly-trained massage therapy instructors. Many of our instructors are professional teachers and all have practiced in the field.
Your first year of study includes plenty of hands-on training and a two-week placement. This allows you to practice as a Registered Massage Therapist. Your second year of study gives you a total of 3,000 hours of training which allows you to practice as a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) and to be able to issue receipts for insurance.
Your courses will be taught in English. However, our iPad-based learning allows students to translate the course content to their preferred language for a better and easier learning experience.
Eligibility & Admissions
This course is suitable for people of all ages and backgrounds who want a new career in massage therapy. We require a minimum level of competency in English and a study permit for international students.

You need to be 17 years of age or older, have the relevant study permit, academic transcripts to be translated into English and authenticated by Makami College Inc. and can demonstrate a competent level of English. Apply as an international student here.
If you’re already a Registered Massage Therapist looking to upgrade your 500 - 2,200 hours into a 3,000-hour diploma, you can apply to upgrade your massage therapy hours or for advanced credit.
Requests for withdrawals and refunds must be in writing. Please refer to Alberta Student Enrollment Contracts attached in your orientation package for detailed information and cost calculation on refunds.
Scholarships & Financial Assistance
Our Student Advisory team can advise where you can find information on student loans, financial assistance from local partners, charity grants and other forms of funding.
Prior to graduation, the Student Advisory Services team will contact you to discuss your repayment obligations and develop a repayment plan to meet your needs.
There are student loans such as Alberta Student Loan and Canada Student Loan that can help ease the financial commitment of post-secondary education.
When you graduate, your Alberta Student Loan will be payment-free and interest-free for six months, and your Canada Student Loan will be payment-free for six months but will begin to accrue interest immediately.
Career & Mentorship Support
MaKami College alumni can attend workshops to maintain accreditation and continue developing skills to help further their massage therapy career.
There are paid internship opportunities for students with excellent leadership skills to work under an instructor as paid interns and receive mentorship. Learn more about MaKami’s in-house mentorship program.
After completing the first year of the program, you can begin working as a Registered Massage Therapist.
Throughout the program, you get exposed to a variety of work experiences to explore the different career pathways you could take. Keep an eye out on the job board for vacant local and international massage therapy jobs.
Your options are endless. Some examples include working in sports massage & injury rehabilitation, at a spa, alongside other healthcare professionals, or directly from your home.
